Michael Ramsden wins the PGA in Yorkshire Championship

Lees Hall-based professional Michael Ramsden topped the leaderboard in the PGA in Yorkshire Championship at Hull Golf Club.

Michael led the way in the PGA in Yorkshire Order of Merit event with an 11 under-par total – opening with a three under-par 67 before shooting a bogey-free, eight under-par round of 62 to beat James Walker by three shots as Gareth Davies finished third.

With the win, Michael moved to second in the season-long points race as James maintained a solid lead with his second-place finish. At the end of the season, the leading two players in the order of merit will earn places in The Goslings Invitational – which takes place in October at Belmont Hills, Mid Ocean Club and Port Royal in Bermuda.

Meanwhile, Rotherham-based James French won the PGA in Yorkshire Seniors’ Championship, which was played as part of the event at Hull, with a two under-par score.
