State-of-the-art technology has been installed at the indoor Swing Studio at Skipton Golf Club – opening up the chance to play some of the world’s top golf courses virtually.
GC Falcon technology from Foresight Sports has been added to the standalone facility, which was launched in 2022 as The Brian Rasche Junior Academy and supports junior and beginner coaching.
There was a major financial input into the £55,000 development – which forms an extension to the pro shop – from Brian’s son, David, of Ilkley – like his late father a long-time member of the club. There was also additional investment from long-serving club professional Peter Robinson.
PGA professional Ben Mallinson, who has had hands-on involvement at Skipton for some 30 years and had a major input in the installation of the GC Falcon technology, is running the venture.
“GC Falcon represents the next generation of overhead launch monitors in terms of performance and accuracy, utilising a combination of infrared object tracking and high-speed, high-resolution camera-based technology to precisely measure every aspect of clubhead and ball launch performance,” said Ben. “The accuracy is unbelievable, and it enables golfers of all ages and abilities not only to improve their game, but experience the virtual thrills of playing the world’s leading golf courses, either as individuals or socially with groups of friends. It means users need never miss a round or practice session and experience the most true-to-life golf simulation experience for any-time, any-weather golf in multiple formats of the game. It represents a major upgrade to the indoor Swing Studio facilities at Skipton and keeps the club at the forefront of ever-evolving technology.”
