MacGregor is aiming to build on its major-winning MT iron range with the launch of the MT-86 Pro and MT-86 OS irons.
Honouring the aesthetics and clean lines of the originals, but packing a host of modern technological enhancements, the new models aim to elevate performance for a wide range of golfers.
Made from high-quality materials through state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, the MT-86 OS irons (RRP 5-PW £449.99, 4-PW £529.99) build on the original Tourney irons while offering added forgiveness and more explosive distance. With an oversized head, which offers a higher moment of inertia and larger sweetspot, the OS irons feature a slight offset while the heads are forged from a carbon steel body that is fused with a maraging steel face that is just 2mm thick. A power slot also sits behind the face and wraps around the sole to maximise consistency on mishits.
The heads are filled with a proprietary soft polymer foam to deliver enhanced feel while also improving acoustics. The construction also includes 5g tungsten weights in the toe of the clubhead which progressively moves the centre of gravity lower and deeper, while also increasing moment of inertia.
Featuring the same forged construction, 2mm explosive face and foam-filled head, the MT-86 Pro irons (RRP 5-PW £449.99, 4-PW £529.99) delivers workability and high levels of forgiveness. The hot muscleback model delivers greater forgiveness than MacGregor’s players’ irons of yesteryear while maintaining the clean look.
Meanwhile, the MT-86 Combo set combines the four, five and six irons from the OS set with the seven, eight and nine irons and pitching wedge from the Pro set.
