James Wilson secured a place in the second stage of DP World Tour Qualifying School after making it through First Stage at The Northumberland.
James was among the top 14 players and ties who progressed through to the next round of Q School after he shot rounds of 69, 71, 67 and 70 for an 11 under-par total and T10 finish.
“It’s great to have a spot in Second Stage locked up,” said James. “Q School is always important – this is my third year competing in it – but with an injury at the start of the year and less access to Asian Tour events in the UK this season, it became a lot more important.
“Having placed that importance on performing well, it’s great to see it pay off with four solid rounds and a place in Second Stage. I have some experience at The Northumberland and that certainly helped – as did being able to stay in my own bed during the week.
“I also knew it was a course to stay aggressive on as you needed four good rounds to get through. I went out there with the mindset to win as I’ve learned that’s really important in these events. That helped me stay focused and shoot good scores on each of the four days.
“It’s a long road if you make it all the way through Q School, but I’ve been focused on getting prepared for it and will continue the work with my team to stay sharp and be in the best place possible when I tee it up in Spain later in the year.”
The players who also progressed to Second Stage – which takes place across four venues in Spain on October 30-November 3 – were winner Pablo Ereno (Spain), Craig Howie (Scotland), Nicholas Infanti (USA), Anton Karlsson (Sweden), Tyler Wood (New Zealand), Tim Ford (England), John-Ross Galbraith (Northern Ireland), Tee-k Kelly (USA), Griffin Rhoads (USA), Ashley Chesters (England), Scotty Kennon (USA), Velten Meyer (Germany), Robert Dinwiddie (England), Viraj Garewal (USA) and Luke Schniederjans (USA).
