In the bag: Justin Rose

Justin Rose cemented his place in golfing history at the Olympic Games, becoming the first male Olympic champion golfer in more than 100 years when he saw off Sweden’s Henrik Stenson in a dramatic closing round. Rose produced a thrilling round of 67 to win the four-day event, including a closing birdie to seal the win with both men playing the last tied at 15 under-par.

Rose’s place in Europe’s Ryder Cup team to face the US at Hazeltine this month was confirmed later in the month, adding to a great year for the Englishman which has seen him cement his place in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings.
