Alex Wrigley got off to a fast start in the Nordic League by winning his first event of the season – The Bravo Tours Open.

Wrigley, from Hartlepool Golf Club, returned scores of 71, 73 and 69 to lead the field by two shots and take home the winner’s cheque at Enjoy Resorts’ Rømø Golf Links in Denmark.

“It was great to get off to a winning start over in Denmark, in some really tough conditions,” he said.

“The wind was up at 35mph most of the week and I knew years of playing on the North East coast was going to come in handy. The key was staying patient, managing my game and just taking as many chances as I could when they came up.”

The Nordic League offers leading players in the season-long order of merit a place on next season’s Challenge Tour and takes place across Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Wrigley is splitting his time this season between the Nordic League, the EuroPro Tour and the PGA circuit.

“The aim is to make it to the European Tour and securing a top five position on either side of the North Sea this year gets me one step closer. I’ll also be heading to European Tour Qualifying School again so there are good opportunities to make it happen.

“I’m busy until the end of July with both tours before I decide to concentrate on one for the final push. It’s going to be an interesting summer,” added Wrigley.
