Westerhope-based George Cowan continued his success in the North East & North West PGA’s Matchplay Championship as he successfully defended the trophy at Slaley Hall.
The event brought together the leading 16 players in this year’s Titleist Order of Merit and saw Geroge reach the final with a semi-final win over Morpeth’s David Clark. Meanwhile, Whitehaven-based Jonathan Graham overcame Westerhope’s Michael Nesbit in their morning semi-final.
In a repeat of the 2024 final, George once again triumphed over Jonathan – closing out the match 4&2 to retain the trophy and close out this year’s order of merit events with a victory.
