The first two Three Peaks Golf Festivals have proven a great success, with more events set to take place in 2027
Following the successful launch of the Three Peaks Golf Festival, the team at Bentham Golf Course and Wenningdale Escapes is set to host more events in 2027.
Launched in June this year, the three-day events are hosted by Bentham, Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club and Skipton Golf Club.
The first event this summer – a sold-out men’s pairs one which welcomed 172 players – proved so successful that plans for the second event – with a mixed pairs format – were brought forward to September.
Following the success of both festivals, John Marshall, operations director at Wenningdale Escapes and Bentham Golf Course, has set his sights on growing the concept further.
“We couldn’t be happier with how the first year has gone,” said John.
“It can be tough to find ways to work together in the golf industry; it’s a difficult market and it’s competitive. However, drawing people to the area for an event which supports all of us, and champions this part of the world to golfers, has proved incredibly popular and shows the power of collaborating.”
The events are managed by the team at Bentham, with each seeing teams compete over 54 holes with daily and overall prizes. With stay and play options available through Wenningdale Escapes, players have visited the area from around the UK this year, with more expected to take part in 2027.
“Working with the teams at Kirkby Lonsdale and Skipton has been great, and we have built really strong relationships – which is so important to the success of these events,” added John.
“The feedback from our surveys has been very good, with lots of positive comments on the organisation, value for money, and the quality of the golf courses.
“Personally, the first night of the first event showed me what this could be. It was great to see so many people sharing stories, enjoying drinks together, and relaxing after their rounds. I think that atmosphere is what really makes these events special. We’ve also taken the constructive points on board and improved how we do things.”
In 2027, three events are set to take place – for mixed, seniors’, and men’s teams.
“The success of the first two events has inspired us to keep growing, bring more of a festival feel to what we do off the golf course, and create memorable experiences for the golfers taking part,” added John. “With the option to stay on the golf course at Bentham, there’s a lot built into these three-day events and we’ve excited for the future.”
For those who want to experience all three courses outside of the competitions, a flexible three-course ticket (£120) is available. For further details on the ticket and upcoming events visit www.3peaksgolf.co.uk
