Hexham and Whitley Bay are the pride of Northumbria Junior golf
The Northumbria Junior Golf League is celebrating a unique double.
They are the first league ever to have two teams win their way through to the Junior Team Golf Home Nations Inter-Club Championship finals.
Marcus Chisholm, chairman of Northumbria Junior Golf League, said: “Just having one team in the finals would be a great achievement, but to have two teams getting through is fantastic and shows the quality of the junior golfers which are being developed in the Northumbria League.”
Whitley Bay and Hexham both won their regional finals and semi finals to get to the Home Nations Finals at Studley Moor Golf Club in Oxfordshire along with Cuddington, Romsey and Beadlow Manor golf clubs.
Unfortunately, both just missed out on the top two spots which would have seen them progress to the Junior Team Golf Home Nations Inter-Club Championship Final to be held in Andalucia, Spain in March 2017.
Hexham reached that final in Spain in 2013 finishing in third place overall.
