Morpeth Golf Club’s David Clark took home the professionals’ title in the PGL Royal Portrush Pro Am as a team from the North East won the team prize by six points.
David shot rounds of 38 points, 37 points and 34 points at Balyliffin Golf Club, Royal Portrush and Portstewart Golf Club to lead the field of professionals in the PGL Golf Tours event with a one under-par total.
David said: “The win over in Ireland is a definite highlight of what’s been another successful year in the pro ams.
“To play Portrush right after The Open was pretty special and it was nice to play it in the best conditions of the three days.
“The course was still setup to be really tough and it was great to see just how good the tour players’ scores were that week.
“I didn’t play that well all week – the wind definitely helped me stay in there on two of the tree days, and my putting was the key to turning a scrappy week into a good one.”
Meanwhile, the team of Steve Welsh, Guy Stoker and Steve Redpath teamed up with professional Martyn Jobling to win the team prize with a score of 27 under-par.
