Cheshire’s senior men’s team will represent the north in the English Senior Men’s County Finals after topping the leaderboard at Northern Counties Seniors’ Qualifying at Wilmslow.
The Cheshire team led the way with a 25 over-par total and will go on to face the other regional winners in the national final at Harrogate Golf Club on October 7-9.
The Durham team, who won the northern title in 2023 and 2024, finished two shots back in second place in the 36-hole event – in which five scores from each a team of six players count towards the team total. Northumberland finished a shot further back while retaining the nett team title.
The individual scoring was led by Yorkshire’s Andrew Woodhead with rounds of 70 and 72 giving him a two under-par total.
