Longhirst Hall’s Charlotte Naughton has been included in the three-player England Golf team for the World Junior Girls Golf Championship at Credit Valley Golf & Country Club in Ontario, Canada – which takes place September 30-October 5.
Charlotte, Sadie Adams (Royal Birkdale) and Lauren Crump (Hill Valley) will represent England – who finished 10th in the event last year at Brampton Golf Club in Canada.
The team format sees the top two individual scores from the three players counting on each day, while there is also an individual competition. Canada won on home soil last year, while Czech Republic’s Denisa Vodickova took home the individual title.
England women’s assistant performance manager India Clyburn said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for the three girls to test themselves against the best in the world. All three have enjoyed fabulous years to-date, both individually and representing their country, so we’re looking forward to seeing whether they can help us enjoy more success on the world stage in Canada.”
This year, 16-year-old Charlotte has finished second at Girls’ U16 Amateur Championship, St Rule Trophy and Sir Henry Cooper Junior Championship. She also had a top-10 finish at the English U18 Amateur Stroke Play Championship; helped England win bronze at the European Young Masters; and won the European Girls’ Team Championship and the Girls’ & Boys’ Home Internationals as part of the England team.
Charlotte – who has been selected for the 2024/25 England Girls’ squad – was also part of GB&I’s first ever win in the Junior Vagliano.
