Charlotte Naughton picked for Toyota Junior Golf World Cup in Japan

England Golf has named its three-player teams for the Boys’ & Girls’ Toyota Junior Golf World Cup at Chukyo Golf Club, Japan from June 24-27 – including Longhirst Hall-based Charlotte Naughton.

Charlotte, Lauren Crump and Matilde Santilli will represent the girls – while Harry Cox, Sam Marshall and Jack Swift will represent the boys.

The event is the first England’s girls have qualified for, while the boys have won three of the 30 editions of the competition to-date. England’s last triumph came in 2002 while in the individual standings, England has not had a champion since Matthew Richardson in 2002, while Nick Dougherty won the title in 1999. Past individual winners also include Joaquin Niemann, Rasmus Højgaard and Corey Conners – while Ludvig Åberg, Nicolai Højgaard and CT Pan have made the podium.

England Golf deputy performance director Steve Burnett said: “It’s an honour to have both the England Girls’ and Boys’ teams invited to Japan to compete in the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup for the first time together. For decades this tournament has been the gold standard for international junior golf and it’s an experience the players will never forget.”
