Aldwark Manor Estate ready for new season after £4.5million redevelopment

Aldwark Manor Estate is gearing up for the 2024 season following a £4.5million investment in the course and facilities, and the long-awaited reopening of Aldwark Toll Bridge.

The investment has seen nine holes redesigned to enhance the challenge of the layout and introduce several new water hazards. Drainage improvements have also been made, with new bunkers added, and a new putting green built. The estate has also invested in 10 more electric buggies.

In addition to the enhancements outdoors, Aldwark Manor Estate has also created Bunkers – a new purpose-built facility offering a range of amenities designed to enhance the overall guest experience. Guests will now have access to 11 bedrooms to accommodate groups of various sizes, a sports bar and restaurant featuring four large screens showing sports events year-round, a golf shop, private function room, an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven and BBQ, and large terrace facilities off the first tee.

A further £25million is being spent on the estate, including the launch of fine dining restaurant Chartwell this spring, and the introduction of a new spa and additional bedrooms in 2025.

Christophe Gitton, estate director at Aldwark Manor Estate, said: “We are thrilled to finally be able to open the golf course for its first full season since the redesign and introduction of our fabulous Bunkers venue. This will be our first full season since before the pandemic, so it’s a real reason for us to celebrate. The course seamlessly integrates natural beauty, challenge, and luxury and we can’t wait for guests to experience it.”

The Aldwark Toll Bridge, which crosses the River Ure and connects Little Ouseburn with Aldwark, re-opened on February 17. Its closure for repairs in April last year created a 25-mile detour via Boroughbridge for those wishing to access Aldwark Manor Estate and the neighbouring village.

To mark the occasion and to welcome back players and members who’ve had to contend with the detour, the club is offering half price membership and a range of other relaunch offers.
