Abbeydale Golf Club captains Mark Rendall and Sally Colver led fundraising efforts at the club in 2025 which raised more than £40,000 for their nominated charity – St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield.
For many years, the golf club has enjoyed a close relationship with their local hospice, which provides patients and their families with the high-quality care that they need.
At the cheque handover ceremony, St Luke’s chief executive officer, Jo Lenton, thanked the club for the significant amount of money raised during 2025 and said that every penny was valuable to them, particularly during challenging financial times.
Members at Abbeydale – which is 131 years old, celebrated 100 years of playing golf on their present course in 2024, and marked the centenary of its clubhouse in 2025 – will host the English Senior Women’s Stroke Play Championship (June 16-18) and the Sheffield Open Amateur Championship (June 26) in 2026.
