Wearside’s junior team completed a brilliant year with victory in the Durham County Golf Union Junior League playoffs.
The Wearside team came out victorious in a highly competitive final series, which brought together the league’s three regional winners – Wearside, Bishop Auckland and Tyneside.
With three matches played between the clubs, each at a neutral venue, Tyneside beat Wearside 6-4 at Bishop Auckland before Wearside beat Bishop Auckland 8-2 at Tyneside. In the final match, Bishop Auckland beat Tyneside 8-2 at Wearside.
North East League winners Wearside therefore topped the playoff table with 12 points as Southern League winners Bishop Auckland finished second with 10 points, and North West League winners Tyneside were third with eight points.
