Craig Bull from Seacroft, Yorkshire, has won the first Up to Scratch challenge at Leeds Golf Centre, which saw 16 beginners from across the region go head-to-head.
The UK headquarters of the Leadbetter Academy, Leeds Golf Centre launched the Up to Scratch Challenge, in association with COBRA PUMA GOLF and Benross, to turn complete beginners into competent players with just eight weeks of tuition. The challenge is the first of its kind in the UK and due to its success there are plans to expand the challenge in 2017.
Hundreds of Yorkshire residents applied to be in with a chance of taking part and 21 were chosen to receive a one-hour lesson, twice a week, for eight weeks with PGA Professional and Leadbetter certified instructors.
Bull said: “I’m so happy to be crowned winner of the first Up to Scratch Challenge and I’ve not been able to stop smiling since!”
Joe Feather, PGA Professional and Leadbetter Instructor at Leeds Golf Centre, added: “Sunday’s competition was brilliant and it really showed that the challenge has achieved what it set out to do.”
