Lyn Davison proved a spectacular substitute for Brancepeth Castle Golf Club in the Durham County Mixed Foursomes Final at Darlington Golf Club.
The former Durham Ladies Veterans Champion was called up to play on the final day alongside Alasdair Baird when Marianne Moore couldn’t make it.
The Brancepeth pair faced Durham’s City’s Jack and Louise Richardson in the final, and raced away into a four hole lead through seven holes.
But the final was all square after 18 following a major fightback by City’s mother and son pairing.
The quartet headed down the first hole again in a sudden-death playoff and it proved exactly that when Lyn holed out from 80 yards for a spectacular eagle two.
It’s been another successful season for Brancepeth after the club’s men’s team won 13-1 against Seaham in the final match of the North Durham League season to retain the title.
