Seaton Carew Golf Club

Host venue of the 2024 English Amateur Championships

Seaton Carew Golf Club, home to the only championship links course in North Yorkshire and County Durham, was founded in 1874. In 1925, the great golf course architect Dr Alister MacKenzie – the man behind the layout of Augusta National and Cypress Point – redesigned the course and further enhancements to the layout have continued throughout its history.

Over the past two years, under the guidance of course manager Tom Coulson, the course has undergone fundamental changes – including the removal of more than three hectares of sea buckthorn bushes, the remodelling and addition of more than 30 bunkers, and improvements to numerous greens complexes. With further improvements planned at the end of 2022 and beginning of 2023, the course is moving ever closer to a modern interpretation of the test envisioned by MacKenzie almost 100 years ago.

The recently refurbished pro shop at Seaton Carew, managed by PGA professional Martyn Stubbings, stocks a wide range of golf equipment along with the latest ranges of clothing from golf’s biggest names. Top-class coaching is provided by PGA teaching professional James Maw, using state-of-the-art TrackMan technology, while Andy Stubbings provides a high-quality servicing facility for various electric trolley brands.

In September 2022, Seaton Carew will once again host the Northern Counties Championships – adding to the long list of prestigious regional and national events hosted here in the club’s history.
