Beamish Park Golf Club secretary Trevor Robson has added his name to the North East’s international honours board having been called up at the age of 65.
Trevor – a four handicapper, his lowest ever mark – represented England against Scotland at Gullane in the annual UK Golf Club Managers Association match in 2017, winning two and halving one of his three matches in a losing cause.
“The course, the event organisation and camaraderie was fantastic and as you would expect very keenly contested,” said Trevor.
“Representing your country at any age would be special, so at 65 I am delighted. I’ve proved that as long as you keep trying, age is not a barrier. I’d love to be able to go back this year.”
Trevor may well add to his honours having caught the eye of the Durham seniors county squad following his England call up.
“I enjoy practising, especially my short game and work hard on my fitness which has allowed me to achieve my current handicap. I’m really looking forward to getting going again this season.”
