The North East Rabbits Golf Association’s Rabbits and Inter club and individual champions have been crowned for 2018 following their respective Finals Days at Ramside Hall.
Malton & Norton Golf Club’s Inter team followed up their 2017 success by defending their title, posting a score of 217 (best seven stableford scores from a team of eight) as Dinsdale Spa finished second with a score of 214 points.
In the Rabbits Finals Day, South Moor Golf Club came out on top with a team score of 219 as Thirsk & Northallerton finished seven points behind in second place.
In the individual championships, Bishop Auckland’s Iain Campbell scored 34 points on finals day to win the Inter Individual Championship as Blackwell Grange’s Jon Bradley finished second. Meanwhile, Houghton-le-Spring’s Ken Kharia won the Rabbits Individual Championship with 41 points as Billingham’s Steve Appleyard finished second with 39 points.
With events hosted by clubs throughout the 2018 season, more than 1,000 players competed in the Rabbits (16-28 handicaps) and Inter (8-15 handicaps) leagues this season, representing 34 rabbits clubs and 27 inter clubs.
In the Rabbits, which is split into four zones, South Moor, Darlington, Roseberry Grange and Malton & Norton led their groups. In the Inter league, which is split into three zones, Malton & Norton, Wearside and Billingham led the way.
