Morgan Blythe outlasted the best amateurs in Northumberland to win the county’s 72-hole Strokeplay Championship at Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course.
Hexham Golf Club-based Morgan posted rounds of 71, 68, 72 and 75 for a six over-par total to win by two shots as Slaley Hall’s Alex Buchanan and City of Newcastle’s Andrew Minnikin finished two shots back at eight over-par.
Morgan, 17, also picked up the Henderson Salver for the best 36-hole qualifying score as well as the Northumberland Under-18 Strokeplay Championship title following his opening two rounds on Saturday.
Next up in Northumberland is the County Championship at Bedlingtonshire Golf Club, which concludes on Saturday June 25.
