DP World Tour winner Marcus Armitage has officially opened Headingley Golf Club’s new short game academy.
The new practice area, designed by Ken Moodie of Creative Golf Design, occupies what used to be a part of the golf course sloping down towards Adel Beck.
Members now have the opportunity to play shots of up to 100 yards from an artificial grass teeing area to a target green, while a chipping green some 50m in length has also been built.
The new academy is part of a larger project to enhance the practice facilities at Headingley, with the large practice ground undergoing redevelopment with a new irrigation system set to serve a large main teeing area, an elite tee at the far end of the range, and three target greens.
