Hall wins England cap in champion summer
England Schools will cap Jessica Hall’s golden summer this month after she achieved a superb northern treble.
The record breaking teenager became the youngest Durham County Ladies Champion, before winning the title back-to-back, and has added the youngest ladies champion at Bishop Auckland Golf Club to her impressive CV.
Now, after winning the North of England Schools Championship, she has won the North Region Ladies and Girls Championship at Ponteland with success in the 16-18 age group and the overall category – finishing with a three under-par total for 36 holes.
“I was really pleased because it was another good performance in what has been a good year,” said 17-year-old Jessica.
“There have been a few good days this year and I am really pleased with how things are going. I am really enjoying my golf.”
The reward for her success is a place in the England Schools team, which plays Scotland at Fairhaven, having earned international recognition by winning the Northern title and going on to finish third at the English Schools National Championship.
Currently at Durham Sixth Form College, where she is studying a BTEC sport course, Jessica added: “We go to Ramside with PGA professional Kevin Jackson as part of the programme, and I’ve been working with my coach Brian Ridley at Beamish Park Hotel for a long time too and I’m starting to work on a few swing things that we have identified.
“I’m not sure what I will do when I leave college – maybe go to university or take a year out.
“I want to play on tour, that would be the aim, but I’m just going to see how things go over the next few years.”
