Rockliffe Hall and Bishop Auckland member Michael Henson ran away with the Welsh Mid-Amateur Championship thanks to a closing round of 69.
Michael posted two rounds of 70 to be in the driving seat at Aberdovey, and a final round 69 featuring six birdies saw him cruise to a nine-shot victory over his nearest challenger – Lauder’s Barry Nelson.
In 2021, Durham regular Michael shared the Scottish Mid-Amateur title with Clark Riddick, and he came out on top in Wales this term despite a double bogey at the sixth in his final round as he made birdies at the first, seven and ninth and then rattled in another three birdies after the turn at 11, 13 and 14 while making bogeys at 10 and 15.
