Malton & Norton Golf Club secured a hat-trick of North East Rabbits Golf Association inter league titles with victory on Finals Day at Ramside Hall, while the team from Roseberry Grange Golf Club was crowned rabbits champions.
The Malton & Norton team picked up their third consecutive title in the inter league, for players with handicaps from 8-15, with a seven-player score of 229 points at Ramside – 10 points clear of South Moor Golf Club in second place. Roseberry Grange’s inter team finished in third place.
On Rabbits Finals Day, for players with handicaps of 16-28, Roseberry Grange led the way with a seven-player team score of 243 points – just two points ahead of Malton & Norton’s rabbits team. Blackwell Grange took third place in the event.
In the individual events, Roseberry Grange’s Phil Bladen was crowned inter champion with a score of 37 points while Romanby Golf Club’s Greg Lincoln won the rabbits title with a superb 43 points.
The two finals days brought together teams from across the region, each having secured a place by finishing in the top two of their respective zones. This year’s rabbits league was split into four zones with 33 teams taking part, while the inter league brought together 25 clubs in three zones. In the individual events, the leading points scorer from each team competes for the title.
