Jessica Hall made it a hat-trick of Durham County Ladies’ Championships with a decisive victory at Brancepeth Castle.
Jessica, who has been part of the final five times, led the 36-hole qualifying by 17 strokes with rounds of 71 and 75 before producing unrivalled golf in the weekend’s match play rounds to lift the trophy. In the final against Billingham’s Alice Jones, Jessica sealed a convincing win at the 14th hole having raced to 6up through six holes.
“It’s fantastic to win the county championship again,” said Jessica.
“I played really well in the strokeplay qualifying to lead it on four under-par. From there, I didn’t play much on Saturday with a bye and getting a concession after nine holes but I had a lot of confidence still for Sunday and put together two good wins.”
Jessica will be playing a full schedule of national events this summer before heading off to the US with a golf scholarship at California State University, Fresno.
“I’m really happy to have the county championship trophy back and can’t wait to play in the national events this summer,” she added. “I’m all set for university, we’ve got all the prep done and I can’t wait to get out there and start my college golf career.”
