Goodfellow back in fine form

The North East & North West PGA season is in full swing with a regular face topping leaderboards around the region and one of the North East’s best players capturing a title north of the border.

Craig Goodfellow has started the season in fine form, capturing two titles in April alone. Craig led the field in the Pro Series event at Ponteland Golf Club with a three under-par round as John Harrison finished second with a round of 71.

Craig added the Carlisle Golf Club Pro Am title to his collection with a one under-par score of 70, one shot ahead of Aaron Cox and Richard Sole.

North of the border, Kenneth Ferrie took top spot in the ever-popular Archerfield Spring Pro Am. Ken posted a two round total of four under-par (76 stableford points) to lead the field as his team, featuring amateurs John Clark, Richard Derome and Ryan Brooks took home the team prize. Four players finished in a tie for second place two points back – David Clark, Vincent Guest, Nick McCarthy and Craig Goodfellow.

Meanwhile, Tyneside Golf Club’s Gary Vickers has been elected captain of the association. Gary will host the return of the Tyneside Pro Am on July 19, while Teesside Golf Club’s Stewart Pilgrim has been elected as vice captain.
