New dates have been announced for the Girls Golf Rocks initiative in Northumberland, Durham, Yorkshire and Cumbria.
Free taster sessions will again be on offer, followed by coaching courses aimed at attracting more girls into golf.
The free taster sessions are for girls aged five to 18 and PGA professional coaches will lead the activities with Girls Golf Rocks ambassadors from local clubs and the county girls’ squads on hand too. Equipment will be provided and there will be plenty of time to chat and make new friends.
Girls can wear what they like as long as it’s comfy and keeps them warm. Trainers are fine for footwear.
Girls who enjoy the sessions can go on to join a beginner coaching group to learn the basics during six weekly, one-hour sessions. They will also have the chance to get out on the golf course on the sixth week and play in a team alongside the Girls Golf Rocks ambassadors. They will also receive a US Kids nine-iron and goodie bag.
The clubs involved in Northumberland this year are: Bedlingtonshire, Close House, Matfen Hall, Ponteland and Tynemouth. In Durham, Castle Eden, Darlington, Houghton and Woodham will host sessions. The Cumbria clubs involved are: Barrow, Carus Green, Eden and Penrith while in Yorkshire, Abbeydale, Bedale, Cookridge Hall, Fulford, Hessle, Meltham, Moor Allerton and The KP are offering sessions.
A total of 26 counties will be taking part, five more than in 2018 when some 1,600 girls took part.
