Durham’s girls’ county champion Faye Wheatley and the county’s ladies’ champion Shannon O’Dwyer picked up second place finishes in their respective County Champion of Champions events at Woodhall Spa.
In the girls’ event, Faye – from Whickham Golf Club – finished five shots behind Essex’s Amy Knotts with a two-round total of 151 (76-75) over the Bracken Course.
In the women’s event, Shannon – from Wynyard – finished three shots behind Derbyshire’s Hannah Morrison with rounds of 74 and 75 for a 36-hole total of 149.
Over the same weekend, Hertfordshire’s Jackie Foster won the Senior Women’s Champion of Champions at Woodhall.
The Boys’, Men’s and Senior Men’s County Champion of Champions events take place at Woodhall Spa September 11-12. In the Boys’ event, Oliver Norden will represent Durham while Morgan Blythe will represent Northumberland. Durham’s Ian Hendry and Northumberland’s Steve Slater will compete in the Senior Men’s event, while Adam Charlton (Durham) and Andrew Minnikin (Northumberland) will make the trip to Lincolnshire for the Men’s event.
