Durham Sixth Form’s three-man team lifted the trophy at the English Schools Scratch Team Championship.
The trio of Archie Palmer, Jay Emmerson and Roan Smith led the field in the scratch event – played on the Hotchkin Course at Woodhall Spa – with a two over-par aggregate score. Archie led the team with a level-par 73 as Jay and Roan both shot 75 in the 18-hole event, where each team’s score is made up of their leading two players.
The Durham team finished five shots clear of Essex Golf College, as Herts & Essex High School’s Rhys Hatcher won the individual competition with a two under-par score.

Meanwhile, The Whitstable School (Kent) won the English Schools Team Championship after three teams finished on 77 stableford points at Woodhall Spa.
The three-player team of Fred Jacques, Jacob Bull and Miles Horton managed to win on countback over Parkside (Durham) and Hellesdon High School (Norfolk) after all three teams finished on the same score on the Bracken Course.
On the back-nine countback, and with all three players’ scores counting, Whitstable who took the title thanks to 54 points compared to Parkside’s 50.
In the individual tournament, Parkside’s Jake Hamilton lifted the trophy after shooting 42 points off a handicap of 18.
