Durham pick up second win as Northumberland beaten by Yorkshire

Durham’s men’s team raised their hopes of a first Northern Counties League title with a second win of the season over Cheshire at Shrigley Hall.

Durham, who won their open match against Cumbria, lead 4-2 after the morning foursomes. Ryan Dixon then won the top singles match 3&2 before Will Marshall (3&1), Will Skipp (2&1) and Gavin Nesbit (3&2) won their matches. There were also halves for Jack Ainscough, Jamie Birkbeck and Chris Handy as Durham won the tie 9.5-8.5.

Meanwhile, Northumberland lost their opening match of the season against Yorkshire at Garforth 14-4. Elsewhere, Lancashire narrowly beat Cumbria 9.5-8.5 at Pleasington.
