The second event of the Northumberland Schools Golf Series saw some of the region’s rising stars take home prizes.

Hosted by Matfen Hall, 72 competitors from 24 schools took part in the event with players aged 9-18.

Charlotte Naughton (Ponteland Middle School) won the key stage two (9-11) gross category while Jasmine Lee (Cullercoats Primary School) won the nett prize.

In a very competitive key stage three category (age 11-14), Junior Dobson (Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham) shot a superb three under-par round to win the gross title as Cameron Thorburn (Ponteland High School) won the nett prize.

In the key stage 4/5 category (age 15-18), the largest field at the event, the gross competition was won by Alex Buchanan (Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham) and the nett prize went to Daniel Bell (Dame Allans School).

Meanwhile, the overall best gross for the girls’ was won by Zara Naughton from Ponteland Middle School with a score of 78 while the overall girls’ nett prize went to Haylie Philips from Dame Allans School with a score of 73.
