England Golf has named its senior men’s teams for the upcoming European Senior Men’s Team Championship and Senior Women’s & Men’s Home Internationals – with Consett & District’s John Kennedy set to compete in both events for a second year in a row.
The teams will be captained by Andrew Atkinson and will be looking to emulate the European success of 2023 in the Czech Republic.
They will also be looking to regain the Home Internationals title alongside the senior women’s team having been pipped to the trophy by Ireland in 2025.
John – who won the 2025 R&A Senior Men’s Amateur Championship and finished in a tie for sixth place in this year’s event – will be joined by Stephen Creed (Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire), Martin Hand (Eden, Cumbria), Steve Standing (The Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire), Matt Stanford (The Players Club, Gloucestershire) and Martin Young (Brokenhurst Manor, Hampshire) in the six-player team that will compete at Cabot Bordeaux in France on September 1-5.
The same six players will be joined by Danny Holmes (Sundridge Park, Kent) in the seven-player side for the Home Internationals at Royal St David’s Golf Club in Wales on September 15-17.
