Durham’s Alex Stevenson returned home from college in the US and got her summer off to a winning start with victory in the Astor Salver at The Berkshire.
Alex, who has completed four years at Georgia Southern University and is based at Beamish Park, shot one under-par in the 36-hole event for a one-shot victory over Olivia Lee.
Having opened with a three under-par 70, Alex – who had her dad Mark on the bag – shot a second round 74 on the blue course to secure the title.
Meanwhile, in the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews, Gosforth Park Ladies’ Jess Baker picked up a T8 finish as Bishop Auckland’s Jess Hall finished T15.
