2023 PING Junior Solheim Cup qualification begins in Portugal

Qualification for the European team for the 2023 PING Junior Solheim Cup is underway – beginning with the Portuguese International Ladies’ Amateur Championship at Montado Hotel & Golf Resort.

La Zagaleta, Spain will host the 2023 edition of the PING Junior Solheim Cup, which will see 12 of Europe’s brightest young female golfers between the age of 12 and 18 battle against Team USA on the Old Course September 18-19.

Throughout the 2023 season, 10 Official European Qualifying events will take place – starting in Portugal and concluding with the R&A Girls’ Amateur Championship August 14-20. The team will be announced after that competition has taken place.

Team Europe will be made up of the leading six players from the PING Junior Solheim Cup rankings and six captain’s picks based on performances at leading amateur events, and on the European Women’s Amateur Ranking.

The PING Junior Solheim Cup 2023 is set to take place immediately ahead of The Solheim Cup at Finca Cortesin September 22-24. Team USA currently leads the Junior Solheim series 7-3-1. In 2021, Europe produced a stellar performance on the final day to win the contest 13-11 and triumph on US soil for the first time.

The event was established by PING CEO and chairman John Solheim in 2002 and has seen some of the world’s best female golfers take part – including Georgia Hall, Charley Hull, Carlota Ciganda, Lexi Thompson, Paula Creamer and the Korda sisters.
