The first Yorkshire Golf event, bringing together administrators and volunteers from the Yorkshire Ladies County Golf Association and Yorkshire Union of Clubs was hosted by York Golf Club in March.
A group of 36 representatives from the two organisations, as well as course rating volunteers, played the course and discussed various aspects of amateur golf in the county.
“The feedback at the end of the day was appreciative and enthused, and many were keen to see a repeat in 2027,” said YUGC secretary Jonathan Plaxton. “In the meantime, there will no doubt be an increased level of communication between our two organisations, and many of the individuals and volunteers who give their time so generously to support the game in our county.”
The winning team, with a score of 106 points, featured Sarah Horsman, Sandra Valentine, Andy Fairbairn, and Howard Thorpe.
