Wilson misses out by one spot

Rockliffe Hall-based professional Andrew Wilson will be heading to European Tour Q School in November looking to improve his prospects for the 2020 season having missed out on one of five Challenge Tour cards available through the EuroPro Tour’s order of merit.

Andrew was pushed out of the the five-man bubble at the tour’s final event of the season – the Tour Championships at Desert Springs, finishing in sixth spot on the season-long points race.

Andrew missed his card by £219.11 as Mikael Lundberg won the Tour Championship following a playoff against James Allan.

Lundberg (Lumine Golf Club) clinched the order of merit title with victory in his first season on the tour. The Swede signed for rounds of 64, 73 and 69 to force a playoff after leading after the opening day.

Andrew shot rounds of 73, 68 and 74 at Desert Springs to finish in a tie for 25th place in the event.

He will now tee it up at European Tour Qualifying School, where the leading 25 players in the final stage will earn full cards for the European Tour, while those that finish outside that mark can earn playing privileges on the Challenge Tour based on their final positions and other exemptions.
