Whitburn Golf Club’s drive to introduce more young people to the game is paying off as the club has doubled the size of its junior section.
A number of initiatives aimed at encouraging youngsters have been created, including allocating tee times for juniors on Fridays and Saturdays. To-date, the junior section has grown from 31 to 61 players.
Having not been played since 2015, the club’s junior championship will return on August 24 – with a new event also taking place off the blue tees so the younger and less experienced players can be part of the tournament.
