Top honour for Marcus

Bedlingtonshire Golf Club’s Marcus Webb has joined an elite group of the country’s professionals after being named an advanced fellow of the PGA.

Marcus, club professional at Bedlingtonshire for 30 years, becomes the sixth professional to receive the award in the North region.

The award, granted by the PGA Training Council, recognises his work delivering the PGA’s training programme in the North East and nationally, and his coaching work with England Golf in teaching level one coaching accreditation for assistant professionals and volunteers. The council also congratulated Marcus on his work in the local community and in raising money for charity.

Marcus said: “It’s a great feeling to be recognised with one of the PGA’s highest honours. I’m proud to have supported the development of so many professionals over the years teaching the business element of the PGA programme, and in supporting the growth and development of golf in the North East.

“I’m particularly proud of the junior coaching I’ve been involved in locally, from the Northumberland Academy system, which has fed players in the county elite squads and England regional squads, to supporting players at clubs including Bedlingtonshire, Rothbury, Warkworth, Seahouses and Alnmouth over the years.

“I’m looking forward to developing further in the future and to supporting more people in the golf industry.”
