Graeme Storm was on hand to offer tips to Thorp Academy’s golf scholars at Close House as he grows his mentoring programme with elite youngsters.
The Ryton secondary school is sending its promising players across the River Tyne to Close House to develop their game and Storm will be working with them following the success of his partnership with Dyke House Sports and Technology College in Hartlepool.
Golf scholars Andrew Griffiths, Alan Taylor and Lewis Hamilton have all been provided with new Avec Sport clothing after being selected to form part of Thorp’s Elite Performer Programme.
They will work with golf consultant Storm and Close House-based PGA professional Tim Cockill.
“I love working with the children, sometimes it can be difficult because you want more from them, but I aim to do the best I can to help them improve,” said Storm.
“I have always seen myself as being involved in the game outside my own career. Kids golf has become a passion of mine, setting up the Graeme Storm Junior Open shows that and I have enjoyed working with Dyke House for the last few years too.”
Thorp’s golfers will also work at nearby Tyneside Golf Club. Scholarships are available at Thorp across a range of sports and for further information contact
