TaylorMade introduces Spider ZT Max putters

TaylorMade has launched Spider ZT Max – a new high-moment of inertia mallet putter built on the Spider Stability platform and offered in Standard, Counterbalance and Long configurations.

At the core of every Spider ZT Max putter is a structural philosophy TaylorMade has refined over years of tour-level development. Four heavy corner weights surround a low-density, aerospace-grade aluminium body to push mass to the perimeter and maximise MOI across the entire head.

In each model, the KBS putter shaft is bored directly toward the centre of gravity of the putter head, producing a 2° shaft lean and 34mm of onset behind the face that delivers a consistent, toe-up orientation at address. New sole shaping, developed specifically around this hosel configuration, is engineered to sit flush against the ground every time the putter is set down.

Feel and alignment were equally considered in the Spider ZT Max design. The black Pure Roll insert – a combination of Surlyn and aluminium – produces a softer feel at impact alongside 45°-angled grooves engineered to promote optimal launch and forward roll.

On the top line, an evolution of TaylorMade’s True Path alignment system features milled lines sized to the exact width of a golf ball, giving players a precise reference point.

Spider ZT Max Standard (RRP £449) is offered in 33ins, 34ins and 35ins lengths for both right- and left-handed golfers – and represents the most direct expression of the Spider Stability platform in the Spider ZT Max lineup. The KBS CT Putter 120 Stepless shaft works in concert with the enlarged head to produce a toe-up orientation that sets up flush against the ground at address. The SuperStroke Off-Axis Tour 2.0 grip completes a setup designed to keep the focus squarely on the stroke. Head weight comes in at 379g, reflecting the additional mass of the larger Spider ZT Max body relative to the standard Spider ZT. Loft is 3.5° and the lie angle is 70°.

Spider ZT Max Counterbalance (RRP £499) is available in 36ins and 38ins lengths for both right- and left-handed players – and is built around a KBS Custom Graphite shaft and elongated SuperStroke grip to shift the balance point higher into the grip end of the club. The practical effect is helping players reduce grip pressure and quiet the smaller hand and forearm muscles, allowing for a stroke that feels more controlled and deliberate. At 398g, the head is slightly heavier than the Standard to account for the counterbalance system, and the KBS Custom Graphite shaft is weighted at 155g to support the higher balance point. Two grip options are available – SuperStroke 2.0 XL at 13.75ins and SuperStroke 3.0 at 17ins – giving players the ability to fine-tune the degree of counterbalance. Loft is 3.5° and the lie angle is 70°.

Spider ZT Max Long (£549) is a 46ins configuration available for right-handed players, built around a 210g KBS Custom Graphite shaft and SuperStroke Split Pistol grip. At this length and weight, the putter is engineered to shift the locus of control away from the hands and wrists and toward the larger muscle groups of the shoulders and arms. The headweight of 472g is the heaviest in the Spider ZT Max lineup, calibrated specifically for the additional shaft length and the pendulum-style motion the Long configuration is designed to promote. Lie angle comes in at 79° reflecting the more vertical address position, and loft is 3°.
