England’s Under 16s romped to a 21.5-8.5 victory over Ireland at Wallasey Golf Club.
The girls team won 11.5-3.5 overall, while the boys – including Doncaster’s George Cooper – won 10-5.
Millie Marsh and Maybel Brooks won all three of their matches, and Alfie Turner went unbeaten in all three of the matches he played.
The girls edged the Saturday morning foursomes 2-1 while the boys were under pressure having lost 2.5-0.5, but both teams were in scintillating form in the afternoon singles as both won their sessions 5.5-0.5.
Sunday was a day of singles matches, and both teams won 4-2 to complete emphatic victories overall.
India Clyburn, England Golf’s assistant performance manager (female golf), said: “It was a great effort by a new young England side. The course was great, and conditions were very nice for the time of year! We saw some great golf from both sides, and it was another great match against Ireland.”
