Shearer bags a pair of pro am wins

Alan Shearer added a pair of North East/North West PGA team wins to his trophy cabinet as the circuit visited Wynyard, Close House and Trump International Aberdeen to bring the UK-based part of the season to a close.

At the association’s annual autumn pro am at Wynyard Golf Club, David Clark (Morpeth) shot 67 to lead the field as Craig Goodfellow (Carlisle Golf Centre & Driving Range) finished alone in second place a shot back. Craig Smith (Close House) led Franco Graziani, Alan Shearer and Peter Davidson to the team title.

Meanwhile at the Close House Morpeth Practice Pro Am, Liam O’Neil shot a superb five under-par 65 to beat Andrew Wilson (Rockliffe Hall) by a single shot as Close House’s Ryan Pittiglio finished third. Andrew Scrimshaw led the team of Colin Wilson, Franco Graziani and Alan Shearer to the team prize.

At the two-day Trump International Aberdeen Pro Am, Danny Walsh (Garforth Driving Range) led the way with 74 stableford points. Phil Waugh (Brampton), Ken Ferrie (Matfen Hall) and David Clark (Morpeth) shared second place.

Meanwhile, Ken led the team of Kris Wylam, Ronnie Foreman and Karl Farell to the team prize with 174 points.

The final pro am of the NENW PGA season takes place in Portugal in November.
