Sharpley and The Golf Factory teaming up

Sharpley Golf and The Golf Factory are teaming up to launch the retailer’s first shop in County Durham.

Having grown into one of the region’s largest golf retailers since its launch 15 years ago, The Golf Factory will take over a new retail space at Sharpley to complement its base in Killingworth, while also offering custom fitting with golf’s biggest brands on the driving range.

Ronnie Tweedy, founder of The Golf Factory, said: “We’ve been looking to expand for some time and having looked at a lot of opportunities, the one presented at Sharpley was too good to miss. We’ve already built a strong relationship with the team at Sharpley and we’re excited to develop that as we create the club’s first retail offering. We’ll be doing what we do best – offering a vast selection of high-quality used equipment alongside custom fitting with all the game’s top brands out on the driving range.”

The Golf Factory at Sharpley is set to open in December as part of an exciting time at the club, which has already seen two-time DP World Tour winner Graeme Storm make Sharpley his coaching base.

The TrackMan range is also set to be expanded with the addition of 10 new bays – making it a 24-bay facility with an additional indoor golf studio space.

“This is a very exciting time for Sharpley and we’re excited about all the changes that are happening,” said general manager Michael Varney, who started his role at the club earlier this season having been captain in 2024 and won the club championship last season.

“Creating our first retail offering with The Golf Factory is very exciting and we can’t wait to add what they do brilliantly to what Sharpley already offers its members and visitors. The team will also be making use of the extended and revamped range to offer a high-quality custom fitting experience here for the first time.

“We’re also now the coaching base of Graeme Storm – a development we’re very proud of given Graeme’s incredible experience and his passion for helping players develop.

“There’s a lot going on, but it’s incredibly exciting and we’re confident it will drive the club forward into 2026 and beyond.”
