Members of Seaton Carew Golf Club continued the countdown to this summer’s English Amateur championships with a hickory day at the Teesside club.
Members turned back the clock to celebrate the club’s 150th anniversary by hitting the links with hickory-shafted clubs from more than a century ago.
Club secretary Roy Leonard said: “In our 150th anniversary, we wanted to put something a little bit different on for the members and chose to provide an opportunity to play golf something like it was 150 years ago. We made it a family day so everyone experienced the hickory challenge.”
The English Amateur championships heads to Seaton Carew for the first time July 30-Aug 4 with a 288-strong field of men and women competing in strokeplay qualifying at Seaton and Hartlepool before the matchplay stages continue at Seaton.
