Seaham’s Michael Trippett and Michael Doggett successfully defended the Durham County Golf Union’s Captain and Vice-Captain Trophy at their home club.
Meanwhile, Hobson’s Chris Ayre won the county’s Second Division Championship, posting four birdies in the last six holes at George Washington to shoot 73 and finish three shots clear of Crook’s Alan Brack.
In the Durham County Clubs Team Handicap Championship at Garesfield, the Whickham team led the field by a single shot. They posted a total nett score of 225 (nine over-par) in the best three from four format to finish just one shot ahead of Ryton – with Iain Craig (71), Paul Hedley (75) and Stephen Wilkinson (79) combining to top the leaderboard as Craig Cavanagh’s score was discounted. Ian also collected the trophy for the leading individual player.
