How has this season gone?
“It’s been a good year here at Chester-le-Street following a slow start with all the rain. I’m settled here now in my third season, and it’s an exciting time to be part of the club as we develop the course – I can’t wait to see the finished product. I’ve also just got back out onto the course following a shoulder injury, so I’m looking forward to getting back into playing too.”

How did you get into the game?

“I started playing aged 13 with one of my neighbours at Mount Oswald. I played there for a year and moved to Durham City, where I played until moving to Yorkshire to turn pro. Those four years were great; I played so much golf and improved really quickly. I then headed off to Otley Golf Club to train then to Ilkley before heading further afield.”

What does the future hold?
“I’m really looking forward to being part of the changes at Chester-le-Street, which are exciting for the whole club as we develop the course. I’m also excited to grow the coaching here, with juniors and beginners as well as club members, and helping them improve their golf. Lastly, I can’t wait to get back into the swing of tournament golf and get out onto the PGA circuit.”

Interesting fact?
“When teaching a couple of beginners, they both recorded holes-in-one on their first visit to a par-three course – consecutively at the first and second holes.”
