Phoenix Cup Group relaunched ahead of 31st match

Following the European team’s 16-8 win over the US side at the 30th Phoenix Cup – played over the New, Old and Jubilee courses at St Andrews in October 2024 – the Phoenix Cup Group has been relaunched.

Formerly Scottish Disability Golf, the newly launched group has been expanded and invited to be part of new Disability Golf Teaching HUB sessions at St Andrews and several other venues. The Phoenix Cup event, which is based on the Ryder and Solheim cup formats, leads a programme of events which will culminate at the 31st team event on September 20-23 at Raven Golf Club in Phoenix, Arizona

Jim Gales MBE, captain of the European team at St Andrews, said: “This news ties in lovely with the conclusion of our programme of funded lessons with PGA teaching professionals, which has just delivered its 5,000th 30-minute lesson for our members. Our supporters have come along with us during our reorganisation, and we have introduced a free membership scheme for golfers with disabilities and our first two-day event at Dalmahoy in Edinburgh is also free to members.”

Yorkshire’s Graham Moore will lead the squad of 19 selected players and coaches from countries including Belgium, Ireland, Scotland, Holland and Italy that will represent Europe.
