Northumberland’s Charlotte Naughton selected for England under-16 match against Spain

The annual under-16 challenge match between England and Spain will take place at Hunstanton Golf Club in May with eight of the brightest young talents in the country – including Ponteland’s Charlotte Naughton – selected to represent England.

The England team is made up of four boys and four girls, and they will be looking to avenge last year’s 19-5 defeat in Madrid when the match takes place May 20-21.

Charlotte, who won the England U14s title last season, will be joined in the team by Sadie Adams (Royal Birkdale), Matilde Santilli (Foxhills), Chloe Tarbard (Royal Norwich), Ben Bolton (Enville), Kris Kim (Walton Heath), Cameron Mukherjee (Gullane Golf Club) and Jack Swift (North Foreland).

Since the mixed two-day competition was introduced in 2014, Spain has been the dominant side, winning on six of the seven previous occasions. England last tasted victory in 2017 at Preston Golf Club. Both days consist of matchplay, with four foursomes in the morning and eight singles matches in the afternoon.
